• Account information: email address used for magic-link authentication.
• Student portal credentials: usernames and passwords for third-party student information systems (e.g., StudentVUE). These are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.
• Payment information: processed securely by our payment provider (Lemon Squeezy). We do not store credit card numbers.

Information collected automatically

• Grade data: grades, assignments, course names, teacher names, and related academic data synced from student portals.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, and general interaction patterns to improve the Service.
• Device information: browser type, operating system, and IP address for security and troubleshooting.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• Sync and display grade data from student information systems.
• Send notifications (email and SMS) about grade changes and missing assignments.
• Generate AI-powered insights and summaries about academic performance.

5. Student Data & FERPA

GradeWatch accesses student education records at the direction of the parent or legal guardian. We act as a service provider to the parent and process student data solely to provide the Service. We do not use student data for advertising or any purpose unrelated to the Service.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

GradeWatch is designed for use by parents and guardians, not by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256 for sensitive credentials), secure authentication, and regular security reviews. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and synced grade data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.
